GISSA's plans for the year

GISSA National Committee had a strategic planning workshop earlier this year.  During this meeting we completed a SWOT analysis, through which we identified important issues we as GISSA must attend to this year.  These issues include:

• The GIS profession is growing and we as GISSA must use the opportunity to broaden our membership as well as support the new “entries”.
• Our website will be used as communication medium to convey important messages and other information to our members and the GIS community.
• The website will be a one-stop information source for GIS users regarding information concerning the profession
• We in GISSA have a lot of GIS knowledge and experience and we will transfer these skills through various platforms to other GISSA members and the GIS community
• We will establish closer links to other peer organizations to deliver a better “service” to GISSA members and the GIS community
• Our website will be used extensively to marked GISSA activities and GISSA as a whole
• As the profession is changing, we as GISSA must make sure that we keep up to date with the composition of the profession, peoples education, capabilities, short comings, trends, needs etc.  We will implement mechanisms to achieve this.
• We want to play a role in the education of people regarding GIS.

We are in the process of creating spesific actifities to achieve the above mentioned goals.  These activities as well as progress will be regularly posted.
